About

I have been visualising selling second hand for years, but never quite put my finger on what was the best option. I’ve sold at Markets, held Garage Sales, via Facebook Marketplace and eBay.

As I procrastinated on how to step into this, I’ve kept accumulating.

After three children and the purchases that go along with a that, I’ve donated, passed on, handed down, recycled and straight up thrown away. But there was a lot of financial investment with those purchases.

Aside from the return on investment, the draw of sustainability is undeniable. As a child of the recession Australia had to have, I watched my mum rifling through Op Shops for our crockery and cutlery, household necessities and treat pieces of clothing as we rode through the 90’s on a budget that has never left me.

It also left me with a lifelong appreciation for things well-worn and used, items with a history, the thrill of op shopping and finding a bargain

Second-hand is sustainable, eco-friendly, and by shopping second-hand, you’re contributing to reducing waste and environmental impacts. Purchasing used items extends their lifespan and helps to minimise the demand for new production, which can be resource-intensive.

Besides recycling, upcycling and reusing, other benefits include reduced packaging waste associated with new products, lowering the demand for new products and fast fashion, encouraging sustainability and ethical consumption, supporting the circular economy and resource efficiency, plus it’s a diverse product offering.

If I can support all of these benefits, make a dollar or two AND reclaim some space in my home, I will be grateful!

Plus, I can talk to the life and history of every single item!

Most importantly, the fun part of online second hand or op shopping is the unexpected surprises you might find and the joy of sustainable and budget-friendly shopping. Be open to exploration, creativity, and finding hidden gems in unlikely places!

Better the second time round!
